NACO are pleased the Co-operative Group have decided to offer free seasonal flu vaccinations for all eligible members of staff.
The decision will benefit tCG as a business, and will be of personal benefit to all staff - according to NHS Direct, 15 million people are affected by cold and flu each year. The Co-operative Groups offer will go a long way to preventing sickness and reducing the number of sick days taken in the business.
NACO General Secretary, Neil Buist, comments "NACO fully supports the Co-operative Group in making seasonal flu vaccinations available to all eligible staff. The move will be helpful through the winter months and shows a commitment by the group to encourage well-being and a healthy lifestyle".
The service will be provided by The Co-operative Pharmacy from October 4th, in three ways:
- The Co-operative Pharmacy will arrange on-site clinics at any Group location with more than 100 employees. The business would be responsible for allowing all employees to have the time off for the vaccination.
- Any employee will be able to go to a participating Co-operative Pharmacy and have the flu vaccination at no cost. We will be increasing the number of branches providing this service in 2011 and targeting those branches within business clusters.
- If there are no participating Co-operative Pharmacies in their area, a colleague will be able to claim £5 towards the vaccine on production of a receipt/evidence from an alternative private sector service provider
