NACO POTENTIAL TRANSFER OF UNDERTAKING INTO SATA
NACO has now received a draft document which signifies the potential arrangements for NACO to transfer into SATA.
This is the Instrument Of Transfer, which is required by the Certification Officer before any transfers of engagement can take place.
The document is currently with the NACO legal team, and has to be finalised and agreed prior to the Certification Officer becoming involved.
As pointed out in the last communication, many of the issues facing us have been largely resolved, and whilst there are a couple of matters to get agreement on, both NACO and SATA are confident that this part of the process can be completed within the next few weeks.
Since announcing this potential move to SATA following our Annual General Meeting in June, the Union has continued to see falls in membership through ongoing changes – primarily following the Co-op Group’s Funeralcare restructure earlier in the year – and it’s clear that NACO remains very vulnerable to these considerable challenges.
The reality is that this opportunity to move our existing agreements into SATA to maintain influence at the NACO levels, is paramount. The NACO Executive can see the significant issues the Union faces, and has recommended a vote in favour of the transfer as and when the process reaches that position.
Due to the timescales laid down by the Certification Officer, it is now unlikely that any ballot will take place this year, but the hope is that ballot forms could be sent out within the first week or two of January 2018.
With that timescale in mind, should the result of the ballot be in favour of transfer, then this would be effective from early March 2018.
As NACO has stated throughout this process so far and in all communications, members will get the opportunity to vote on this proposal before any transfer can take place.
Further regular updates will be sent to members, and also via the website, but the NACO Head Office can be contacted on 0161 351 7900 or via firstname.lastname@example.org
